(Approved Driving Instructors)
The job of a driving instructor can be quite solitary, especially for the sole trader. In Reading we are very fortunate to have a supportive local association. This is BDI, the Berkshire Driving Instructors association. As well as at the test centre, we meet once a month formally and socially. At these formal meetings we have regular speakers from DSA, DIA, ADINJC to name just a few. Socially we meet and swap ideas and information, organise trips, meals out etc.
Anybody involved in driver training or road safety is very welcome. We aim to be inclusive, whether you are just beginning your career or have many years of experience; we all learn from each other, improving our knowledge and competence.
Recently we had a day out visiting Cardington, where all Driving Examiners are trained. This counted towards CPD.
Many of our members have now qualified to deliver the Edexcel BTEC in Driving Science, Level 2. This involves the use of ground breaking on-line training systems, brain training, eye scanning software etc, the cutting edge of driver training!
You remain a sole trader, with all the benefits of a large organisation, but without the cost!
